The whole teacher-student dynamic is predictably messy but that grainy 70s aesthetic actually makes the cringe feel way more authentic. Hard to look away even when you know exactly how badly it’s going to end for him.

It’s the way Armando just stares out the window in that one classroom scene that really gets me, like he’s already mourning a life he hasn't even lost yet. That graininess definitely helps ground his desperation so it doesn't feel like just another soap opera.

The sound mix is what actually sells that discomfort, especially in those quiet kitchen scenes where the ambient hiss makes every silence feel like it lasts way too long. It’s like the edit is forcing you to sit in the awkwardness longer than you want to.
