“People talk about 90s cinema like it was all just grunge and indie drama, but this is the kind of chaotic, genre-mashing energy that really defined Hong Kong movies back then. Stephen Chow is basically a cartoon character in human form here, and watching him try to balance slapstick humor with that sudden, sharp pivot into heartbreak is wild. It feels like a fever dream that manages to stick the landing somehow.”
