does anyone else miss the claustrophobic dread of the first one

The scale is so much wider here that the framing loses that gorgeous, suffocating tension, even if the clinical blue light in the lab scenes is admittedly pretty sharp. It feels less like a folk nightmare and more like a slick exercise in choreography, which is fine, but I kept waiting for the shadows to actually mean something again.
